Hearing the Stories Beneath the Words
About Me
I'm an expert at being me.
After seventy years of living, loving, losing, learning, raising a family, practicing as a therapist, sitting in ceremony,
writing songs, playing bridge, walking golf courses, and beginning again more times than I can count, I've discovered
something simple:
Aliveness matters.
I'm interested in the spark that keeps life interesting—the spark of curiosity, creativity, tenderness, humor, grief,
wonder, and connection.
My songs come from real life. They're inspired by ordinary mornings, unlikely conversations, old myths, golf carts,
bridge tables, heartbreak, healing, and those moments when something true catches in your throat and brings tears to your eyes.
For more than forty years I've explored spirituality through A Course in Miracles, contemplative practice, Lakota
ceremony, and the everyday mysteries of being human. Before becoming a songwriter, I spent decades as a family
therapist helping people navigate relationships, loss, change, and the search for meaning.
These days, I live in The Villages, Florida, where I write what I call Songs for the Way—songs that accompany us
through grief, delight, uncertainty, love, and transformation.
I don't write because I have the answers.
I write because music helps me remember who I am.
And perhaps it can help you remember who you are, too.
The Birth of Companion Songs
Over time, songwriting became part of my own healing and reflection process. I began writing what I call "companion songs" - songs that help people remember themselves, honor their journey, and find companionship during meaningful moments of life.
Some companion songs are written for healing. Some for celebration. Some to honor a loved one. Some for courage during times of change.
My work blends deep listening, storytelling, symbolism, and music into personalized songs that reflect the beauty, tenderness, humor, resilience, and humanity of real lives.
I believe songs can become companions - something we return to again and again for comfort, perspective, remembrance, and joy.
Finding Inspiration in Everyday Moments
When I'm not writing, you'll often find me playing bridge, golfing at sunrise, noticing birds and foxes along the paths, or gathering inspiration from everyday life and conversation.
